Hold on to that video footage. Some day you’ll need it when you’re trying to convince your kids they should at least try a bite of the brussel sprouts.
How is the world did Chris keep a straight face? I’m proud of you Anne, I’m not sure I could have done it…especially after seeing what they look like - ugg! Please don’t bring me back chocolate covered Haggis! :o)
Dude, I almost got sick just watching you put it in your mouth….you’re brave. Now my question is, how much MORE of it did you or Chris eat after what we saw in the video?
Black pudding, blood sausage or blood pudding is a sausage made by cooking down the blood of an animal with meat, fat or filler until it is thick enough to congeal when cooled. In the West, pig or cattle blood is most often used, sheep and goat blood are used to a lesser extent, while blood from poultry is very seldom used.
Anne,
I agree with your dad, it looked like a giant tick. but I’m proud of you. When I was in Venezuela I ate a lot of “interesting” food. It was eat first, ask what it is later. Take care, love you, mom.
i don’t think i could have even brought myself to look at it,let alone take a bite! i’m nauseated just watching it. i hope that was a strong drink you had there…to kill any memories of it! haha
Chris looked like he enjoyed it well enough…I’ve had a refrigerator installed by his desk and have the Haggis waiting for him in there when he gets back to work! Figured, you know, that could help with lunches for awhile!
We’ve missed you both! Look forward to seeing you and hearing about all the adventures when you get back!
You’ve made me smile today, Anne. The entries about your haggis eating exploits are HILARIOUS! C’mon you guys. This stuff tastes great!! It’s really not bad at all. Admittedly it doesn’t sound so great, but it’s beautiful.
[...] Please keep our Scottish friend, James, in your prayers (and his family) - they were the ones who hosted us in Edinburgh and he is actually in the hospital with gall stones and they may be operating on him. It must have been the haggis. If you’d like, drop him a note of prayers. [...]
[...] i had a dream we were back in scotland a few days ago and ever since then my heart is breaking on how much i miss it. hanging out with the petticrews, the baines, rosemary, all the wonderful people we met in glasgow, and even taking roxy for a walk with mairi up the hills behind their house…climbing all the stairs in the city centre which left me out of breath the first two weeks, sleeping with the windows open, riding the buses, letting my clothes air dry, watching everyone else eat haggis, walking princes street and rose street at 1 in the morning taking it all in, praying with each step, looking in the windows of the flats lit up with life…knowing how much more life there is yet for that city…the city of dreams as geoffrey has dubbed it as we all sat up on salisbury crags, listening to james talk with such passion as he shares god’s vision for edinburgh. we must go back. soon. Was your haggis made from sheep or pig innards? It sounds kind of weird to eat a stomach stuffed with innards and all that other stuff they put in it…
