a few of my favorite things
November 9th, 2006 @ 10:26 pm
although it is a grand 85 degrees outside today, i have been in the christmas spirit this week. i’ve had a record three peppermint mochas (two of which were free), we are starting to get christmas stuff ready up at work, and the twinkle of christmas lights has been slowly but steadily filling the night sky.
i am so excited to be back in dallas this christmas. one, it’s warm. two, there are a million ways to get your fill of the holidays. besides the obvious things, like more time with family and friends, below is a list of some of my favorite christmas past-times which i’m looking forward to this season.
-Volunteering at the Neiman Marcus Children’s Parade
-Caroling at Hotel Adolphus (We listen, The Church of the Incarnation performs)
-Peppermint Mochas
-Christmas lights in Highland Park & Interlochen
What are yours?

we just had a wedding shower for a couple in our bible study group. it was a Christmas shower b/c they are getting married in Dec and we stocked them up with lights, tree, wrapping paper, we even sat around and made the UGLIEST ornaments EVER. But it was a blast… good times. It got us all in the mood!

Ha! Los is a riot!
Thanks for coming to my rescue with my font emergency :)
Every year after we have attended church and stuffed our bellies, it is our tradition to drive around on Christmas Eve and look at all the christmas displays and drink hot chocolate (mine is usually 1/2 Bailey Irish Cream.. shhhh ). There is one neighborhood we always hit that goes all out…every house is spectacular.

I love everything about Christmas! My NKOTB Funky Christmas CD, stockings, peppermint smells, shopping for my family, splurging on cool gifts, family, the abominable snowman and rudolph…everything!

Eggnog latte at Starbucks, the only time of year where I think eggnog is ok.
Oh, and singing O’tannenbaum with the peanuts gang.

Mmmmm…Christmas. My short list of favorites:
Baking holiday cookies with my wife for our neighbors while rockin out to the Christmas classics.
Pumpkin pie concrete at Sheridan’s. (Hello, my name is consumer)
Crappy “clay-mation” Christmas flicks.
And a partridge in a pear tree.

I love Operation Christmas Child. I get to see my 11 year old plan a gift box for someone she doesn’t know.
I love baking cookies with my family to take to our elderly neighbor. I also love the smile she has when she tells me that my husband shovels her sidewalks before ours.
I love the anticipation, even my oldest daughter(18) doesn’t sleep well on Christmas eve.
I love the Christmas eve service at our church.
I love the Christmas program when the kids perform and sing and smile and usually one little kid does something extremely funny.
I love reading the Christmas story.
I love having a reason to tak with others about Jesus.
I love eggnog, just not to drink, the smell of cinnamon, nutmeg,.
I love nativity scenes and those Christmas decorations with the star and the lights streaming down.
I love Christmas cards, receiving, not especially sending them.
I love acapella Christmas singing.
There is more, but I don’t want to get the 5000 word censor message :)
