Last week I didn’t weigh in because it was my birthday week. Yes, I was indulging in cupcakes and cookies and only exercised once. So, that’s my bye-week. The NFL gets them, and I declare I do as well! I did wake up early and hit the fitness center this morning, as well as planned out my meals for the day, so hopefully I’m back on track.

Obviously my lack of exercise and undisciplined eating habits have proven themselves in the fact I’ve only lost one pound in the last two weeks, but at least we’re now in the final 10-pound stretch. Just 9 pounds to go! I have had to purchase some new pants, and am proud to say I am now consistently a size 10 in Gap, Old Navy and New York & Co.

mac? pc? i use both.  the below photo was taken from my iMac of me using my HP laptop.  working in communication is fun because you do get some cool toys.  which do i prefer?  i really don’t care.  does that make me bad? probably.  they both do their work just fine…no machine out-performs another.  sure, my pc doesn’t have a built in camera, but my illustrator always “unexpectedly quits” on my mac.

it was amazing. thanks for praying. the nerves were calmed well before i went up on stage. i don’t remember most of what i said, which is a good thing…because it probably means it wasn’t me doing the talking. we had a great Q&A with them afterwards (lots of really thought-provoking questions you would never imagine a teenager would write about sex) and i can’t believe i haven’t done this sooner. it was definitely a great experience (thanks to jamie and dalton for making me feel comfortable!) and i’d do it again in a heartbeat! thanks again for all your prayers, and emails, and text messages. you guys are awesome and it’s great to know the Church is out there covering me in prayer - even if i’ve never met you! some of you emailed and asked if you could get a copy of the night’s message. well, we did record the evening, and as soon as i get the mp3, i’ll upload and link to it.

if you wouldn’t mind, say a wee prayer for yours truly. tonight is the night…the night i speak at the net, our high school program, on one of our campuses (the mesquite campus, across from the town east mall if any of you dfw people want to drop by - next to target!)  anyway, the party begins at 7 pm, and i’ll probably be doing my part of the talk around 7:30-7:45.  after me, the student pastor is going to talk for 15 minutes, and then we’re going to do a Q&A.

the whole night is about sex and porn so please pray that god will have our hearts and minds completely and use us to speak whatever truth he wants them to hear tonight.  also, for the kids…after it’s all over we are going to be hanging out to talk to anyone who wants to meet individually, so that they will have courage to approach us, and that we’ll be able to help them…

i turn 27 on monday.  if you’re new here, read my last birthday post to catch up.

i am taking monday off work, spending the first part of the day at a spa getting massaged, facialed [extracted, if necessary], manicured, pedicured and the last part of the day with twenty-five-ish of some of my dearest friends (and newest friends) at a dinner & movie screening of the new Jim Carrey film, 23.

Fun will be had.  Photos will be taken.

does anyone out there have problems sleeping? i have tried most of the typical expensive “sleep aids” and they do nothing for me, so i am currently on an anti-seizure medicine that is off labeled for insomnia. it helps me fall asleep but evidently it’s not a very deep sleep, as i wake up every hour or so when the train outside goes by. so, except for maybe one night this month, i have not been able to sleep through the night. if i increase the dosage, it just makes me feel drunk the next day but doesn’t help me stay asleep any better.

besides drugging myself into a coma, does anyone have any advice? i do breathing exercises and the whole “head-to-toe” relaxation, but like i said, the problem isn’t going to sleep - it is staying there.

Ok…I am wondering if Los was eating too much at re:Create or what, but we haven’t had an official Fat Ragamuffin weigh in for a while. Anyway, here is the latest from Texas…

Still pretty steady. Surprising considered my Friday night binge on Pei Wei and The Nestle Cookie Store. Also, I thought to help hold my lazy butt accountable, I’d post the dates I worked out. Minimum Goal is 3 a week.

Last week:
Tuesday - 35 cardio
Wednesday - 35 cardio
Thursday - 25 cardio, 15 weights
Saturday - 35 cardio

Some of that was actual jogging. As in not walking. And I’m still alive! Woohoo!

i have no idea why in the world my spirit is reacting to anna nicole smith’s death the way it is.  i am SO incredibly heartbroken over it.  i never really followed her much, except whatever was on a TV interview i’d happen to catch or the trimspa ads.  she grew up just an hour or so away from dallas, so the media here has been all over it - talking to people in her hometown of mexia (ma-hee-ah), just a little south of dallas.

in her last interview, which was shown on the today show this morning, you could see she had given up hope.  there was not a single light on in her eyes.  her slouched over shoulders and the way her non-expressive facial movements made me want to go back in time, find her, and be her friend.

all the woman needed was a friend.

they keep saying over and over again - she died alone…she died alone…

that just really, really sucks.  she was such a beautiful woman, who was no more or less human than you or me.

so, a few times in my blogging history, i have mentioned my fear of public speaking, and a promise i made saying if any opportunities were provided, i would go for it.

opportunity one was while we were in scotland, at a nazarene district’s gathering. i spoke on communication in the church, and then had a time for Q&A. pastors from england, both west and east coast scotland, and some from ireland - even ghana - were there.

so…it was an interesting experience between them understanding me and me understanding them!

a few weeks ago, one of our student pastors over at our town east campus had been informed about my “dirty girls” article in relevant and asked if i’d be willing to be a speaker for their weekly high school program. they are doing a sex series, and wanted a girl’s perspective on porn and sex. without hesitation, i said yes…and over the last several days have been really excited about it! first, hanging out in a student ministry environment again will be awesome and it’s a topic i would love to talk about.

today, i started getting nervous. just a little. but the fact it’s in the very near future (February 21), i feel as if it’s creeping up on me!

following that, on february 25, i will be returning to powertalk live on dallas’ own 89.7 powerfm. it’s a one-hour show that discusses current issues for teens and twenties. it will be my third time on the show, but i’m not really nervous about radio. it’s never really freaked me out all that much. if you’d like, you can listen to the june 25 interview below.

Although I have been trying to lose weight since around the first of the year, I joined the “Fat Ragamuffin” group last week with my first weigh in. Here is the latest posting:

So it looks like consistently a couple pounds a week are falling off. Woohoo! What is really exciting is my mom took me shopping for an early birthday present and I got a pair of size 10 Gap jeans! I haven’t been able to wear a size 10 in Gap since November of 2005. And they weren’t even snug.

Even though I have been fighting a cold and throat infection all weekend, Chris and I pulled our butts out of bed at 5:45 and worked out. Maybe it was the salt from sweating but my sinuses feel a lot better! We are doing cardio 3x/week and strength 2x/week starting this week.

So - the rest of you who commented about the need to get a little fit - how was your last week? Lose any?
