kidnapped for chores
June 17th, 2008 @ 6:39 am

ROME (Reuters) - An Italian man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from a pub, taking her home and forcing her to iron his clothes and wash the dishes, police said Monday.

The 43-year-old man dragged the woman out of a pub in the port city of Genoa, shoved her into a car and took her to his home where he made her iron and wash dishes after threatening her, they said.

Police arrived at his house after being tipped off by a friend of the woman who watched the scene at the pub.

The man, who was apparently furious at his ex-girlfriend for leaving him, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, police said.

if chris ever left me, i’d kidnap him and make him do the dishes and take out the trash.

My husband would probably Amen the reason to have children. I hate folding sock. I have two sock baskets in my house (usually the livingroom) one is full of paired socks and the other unpaired. Neither is ever empty despite me asking everyone to grab their socks after I’ve paired them. Oh well. On a different note my husband and children all do more work around here then I ever did as a kid.

Lisa and I have a great arrangement. She hates ironing (which I really don’t mind) and I hate washing clothes (which really doesn’t bother her. So we both work well together in that regard.

Now, unfortunately we both hate taking out the trash.

So I get to do that.

I’m not sure how that works?

Ummm is all of them a choice? My least favorite is washing dishes. I don’t mind vacuuming or sweeping or washing/drying the laundry.

Washing dishes…I hate it. The worst part is emptying the little crap-catcher since I don’t have a garbage disposal.

Since my wife works full time I do a lot of the work around the house (except cooking. I DON’T COOK except to heat up stuff she has already made) :) But my least favorite chore would probably be cleaning the bathrooms and folding the endless underwear and handkerchiefs (makes me think about using kleenex).

Say Brad: how does that work? How is the smell?

Folding socks and cleaning the bathroom. Our kids also do more chores than I ever did as a child! They will be better prepared for life and will thank us someday. Right? They will, won’t they?

I hate cleaning bathrooms and dusting. Truly, if I could eliminate one annoying thing in my life it would be dust! Two minutes after I dust (and I use a Shopvac…no wimpy feathery thingies, thank you), dust resettles on everything. We sneeze, we wheeze, we curse its existence. Dust is more resilient than the cockroach; no matter what you do, you can’t get rid of it!

And I have to concur with the comments about kids. My older two, now 13 and 9, have taken over a number of chores in my home (including dishes every night), and I feel like I won the lottery!!

Mine is a little less pedestrian, quite a bit nerdy, but is a chore none the less. Working as a graphic designer, I generate Gigabytes worth of files each week. Keeping those files organized and backed up is a major pain. Maybe I’ll do like our Italian guy and kidnap a Geek Squad(tm) member and force them to do my rsync’s for me.

Sorting junkmail is at the top. Ironing is close second. Doing laundry itself is not too bad.

    BUT….

L-O-V-E grocery shopping (Jocelyn…I’m dissapointed). It’s very therapeutic especially at 9:45 at night where you get the whole store to yourself!

Cooking also is in my top favorite house chores.

I hate almost all housework. I particularly hate dishes, bathrooms and continually picking up our stuff. But I hate emptying the litter box most of all!

I am thankful for my “cleaning angel” who takes care of us and cleans my house every week, Annie! She’s the best. I could not be in full time ministry without her.

My husband is wonderful to help but he is not home often!

That is a great intro to a post!

My wife and I have it down. I hate dishes and ironing…she doesn’t mind. I don’t mind taking out trash and actually like vacuuming. Especially with a sweet yellow dyson I got off of woot not long ago! My thorn in the flesh is…cleaning up the back yard after the dog…ewww!

I hear the new iphones do the dishes and take out the trash. Are you tempted Anne?

  33. Yonas said,

I bet you guys $10….if you had central vacuum system, you’d do it more often. I used to have it at my old house…man I miss that thing.

I hat epicking up stuff that other people leave laying around and putting it back where it goes — like changing the empty toilet paper roll, empty water glasses, used towels…. I think I am the only one in my house who can’t tolerate disorder. Dust I’m ok with; disorder makes me crazy!

oh yeah — Wanita — there’s a great book called “Saving Dinner” which gives you a year’s worth of menus with gorcery lists. The dinners are generally for four, so you’d just have to double it.

I guess the ones I hate the most is taking out the trash in the bathroom along with changing the puppy pad. That dog can put out more stuff than any creature I have ever seen and it is just a Yorkshire Terrier.

Folding the laundry. I think it’s because I’m really particular about how I fold everything (including and especially underwear), so it takes me forever to get everything folded and put away.

Laundry. It is the thorn in my side. In France I must hang everything to dry,and often it takes DAYS to dry a load. In the winter, sometimes it even molds before it can dry-at that point every radiator in our tiny apartment is covered with towels, jeans and shirts!!

Mowing, unless I’m off work for a week. It’s just that when I get home at five, the last thing I want to do is mow. I mean the absolute last thing.

Anyone willing to let me kidnap them once a week, let me know, and you can mow my yard for free.

That’s right, I said it, I will LET you mow my yard FOR FREE.
