blog redesign

okay, ya’ll.
(how’s that for living in the south for the last month?)
the blog is redesigned.
(as well it should have been).
and there’s even a new profile picture. i have to keep ben happy.
(which reminds me, daley hake took a few pictures of me last weekend. he’s amazing. hire him.)
anyway, i’d love to hear your feedback.

Howdy. My wife (@kristicw) and I are fans; thought I’d stop by and comment, since blog design is a favorite hobby.
Overall, I commend you for cleaning up the signal/noise ratio. There’s fewer distractions, and that’s great (esp. with so many social network widgets and the like these days).
However, I think the type is way, way to light. It’s practically unreadable. It’s also much too small. With screen sizes getting ever bigger (I’m on my 19″ iMac, but kick it on dual 23″s at work), keeping type this small bucks the trend.
Are there reasons you’ve kept the type so light, and so small?
A great example of a clean, high-key design: Khoi Vinh’s Subtraction.
Consider boosting the font size from 1.0 em to 1.2 or more. Let me know if you’d like some more detailed CSS suggestions.

i have been a user of this font size for the last three years so….not willing to budge that! :) especially since most of my traffic is RSS based so you guys see it first somewhere else. :)
but i did darken the color to another shade of grey.

this will never work….this site is clearly not conducive to community….and with global warming things are even worse….clearly it isn’t working because you only had 22 comments in 5 hours in the middle of the night….this is going to so kill your influence…your blog queen title my actually be in jeopardy!

Although I have been in the tech business for 15 years now, I am fairly new to blogging. I have visited hundreds of sites in the last few months and I really enjoy your style of writing. I am a fan of simple, clear and functional web designs and your new one has that. Now if only I can do the same!
