wow.

and..

yes.

My wife and I probably average a total of 4,000-5,000 text messages sent and received each month. We are texting nuts!

Yes. And considering that I sent about five in 2004, my rate is pretty proportional to the graph!

I think it has way less to do with technology than it does economics. Until just the last couple of years, even single text message cost you probably 20 cents. Once unlimited texting was available it went like gang busters. It will probably double for 2008. I send several hundred a month myself. Thank twitter and facebook along with the unlimited text message options and you have the makings of a revolution.

Miss you guys!

I am an AVID texter. I don’t even want to know how many I send and receive each month. I’m sure its WELL over a thousand strong.

…and the iPhone makes it so easy. :-)

Thank you Twitter!

And it will grow a giant leap again in 2008 because (a) people are still finding out (learning curve) and (b) other services are piling in (imitation curve) - identi.ca, plurk, pownce, etc.. and (c) still other services are riding those early services and expanding and monetising them (some kind of ‘build-upon’ curve that I’m sure has a nifty name) - Facebook, Hello.txt, Ping, etc.

Aren’t statistics grand?

I have never sent a text message. Maybe if I would give in to it my son and I would talk more!

I kinda almost used 1340 texts just last month. That is the most I have ever used. Ever. Keep in mind that this number includes both sent and received. And its largely because I am a Canadian in the USA and most of my family and friends are back there…But seriously, 1340??!!?

yes i do, with certain people. It’s so much faster! Staff uses it often and twitter is also helpful! Having teens taught me this!

I don’t text a lot. Although this last weekend I was involved in a birthday surprise (thanks for taking care of the card for Kem) so I sent / received SO MANY!!

I’m a little worried. I don’t know what my texting plan includes. Yikes.

can
imagine!

I’ll show my age…no texting here…no need for it…and, I’ve even had AT&T shut the feature off…no need for me to pay for ads that seem to come my way…

Yes, definitely text. It’s one of the main ways I communicate w/ peeps from all over the US as well as locally. Started twittering not long ago. love it for the same reasons.

i contributed to those numbers this year!! for some things texting is so much easier that a full-on phone call/conversation.

Aaron

I’ve been averaging somewhere around 4000-5000 every month. Some months I’ll have 1000, but that’s very rare. And yes, unlimited text plans have contributed greatly to this. It’s so much easier to just fire off a text than to call a person and break into a 30 minute conversation. Sometimes long conversations are what you’re looking for but, more often than not, a simple answer of 160 characters or less will suffice. Plus, texts are good when you happen to live in the one spot in your city that doesn’t get good service. A text doesn’t drop a call.

I’m too uncoordinated to text…the answer is no, I don’t text. lol
