cats or dogs?
October 30th, 2008 @ 6:45 am
chris and i are headed out of town for a few days to a location where WE KNOW NOBODY. we will meet with nobody and eat with nobody and just hang out…just the two of us…like we did seven freaking years ago.
[sorry, can you tell? this is much needed.]
i hate leaving our cats alone even if it’s just for a few days, but i know they’ll be fine. all of this blog is to say…
are you a cat person or a dog person?
i personally hate dogs…unless they are smaller than cats.

I am both. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats. (The third cat was a by-product of my wife’s fragile heart, but I digress.) I enjoy both species. The cats are good companions, while the dogs are fun and playful. Cats have a superior air while the dogs are fat, dumb and happy.

I have 2 cats. I don’t mind some smaller dogs although when they start approaching the size of a small sheep its a bit disturbing. Some of my friends used to have a sheep sized dog which seemed intent on knocking me over

My basset puppy is 8 years old and loves me more than her own life. You can never say that about a cat. When I fell in a well, she ran back to the farm, and barked until someone followed her out to rescue me. A cat has never done that.

You just haven’t met the right dogs. Like Sir Sandler Archie Moses (R.I.P.) and Captain Clayton Baker and Mister Harry Space Peanut Dirte. All great dogs. All much bigger than cats.
None of them had a lot - but they were happy with what they had. And they loved unconditionally. Matter of fact - they are great models for us.
Now cats? Well cats are just mean. They can’t play without bringing their claws into it. Thy’re finicky eaters. They carry themselves in a snooty manner. They tend to be asocial and introverted. And if they could write - they’d probably have more visitors to their blog than I do.
I don’t like cats.
Outside of Garfield I don’t even know if there are any cartoon cats I like.

first, my mind can scarcely comprehend the idea of hating dogs.
second, and following from the first statement, i am a “dog person”. joy and i are presently animal-less, but i hope someday we will welcome an ADORABLE and divinely inspired yellow lab puppy into our home. :)
third, i still like cats; ergo, i like you. ;)

Ok I used to like cats better. But now I have kids and the fur babies would be so in the way adding to the mess the wee ones make. No thanks.

which means Moon Butterfly! I also have a Tortis Shell cat that has a silent meow is super cute, her name is Tessera. I want more kittens…but that is not feasible at this time!
What are your cats names? Post some pics!
Have fun on your weekend!

Dog- more specifically, Rebecca Ann Cole aka Becky the beagle. She is blind in one eye, has diminished sight in the other, is losing her hearing and is a senior citzen. but she wags her tail, jumps in our laps, cuddles down and is so sweet.

Totally a cat person. They’re smarter, cleaner, they don’t smell, you don’t have to walk them, take them outside to go the bathroom, and they don’t take up nearly as much room on your bed!

Dogs. Four big honkin’ dogs who showed me what love is supposed to be, and made me feel safe was when my daughter and I were utterly alone and I was afraid of the entire world.
I know some people think this is a gross exaggeration but it is the honest truth when I say that their love and acceptance got me ready to accept the unconditional love of Jesus. I know he sent my dogs to get me ready.
I don’t need them any more because I’m afraid - I WANT them because I appreciate their love and what they did for me! They are like my kids, as goofy as that sounds.
Used to have cats. Loved them too. But a cat just doesn’t love you the way a dog does.

Boy do they Jordan! Their breath stinks, you have to toss them in a bubble back, they shed, and poop, and throw up, and chew things. They cause a great deal of trouble.
But tymm above said that dogs can teach us some good lessons. I agree.
I’m a lot like a dog. I make a mess. I sin, which is not a pleasant scent to God. But I love him so much!!!! And he sticks with me too!

I love dogs - I am crazy about mine….one of them jumped a 7 foot fence this morning just to chase a squirrel….I used to think that people who acted like I do about their pets were crazy…..but now I’m one of them. I have two - both rescued from shelters - one was left in a shoe box in a trash dumpster - the other was dumped on someone’s porch. They sleep with me every night and they are both huge dogs!……cats ~ not so much.

So DH and I decided that since we have a 2 year old and she keeps us pretty busy….we don’t want any pets for a loooooooonnnnnggggg time.
But I do like you! =) Have a great time away from EVERYONE!

Well I have a dog and my dog has a cat. I am a dog person - COMPLETELY and I tolerate the cat (ok, I secretly LOVE her, but don’t tell ANYONE). I’ve had Lucy Jane (a rotweiler/shepherd mix) for just over 9 years now and she (Lucy) adopted Sweet Kitty about 8 years ago. Sweet Kitty totally and completely prefers the company of Lucy over me any time of day or night. They sleep together, SK goes on walks with us, they even drink (and sometimes eat) out of the same bowl.

my theory:
i used to have a “friend” who had a dog … i didn’t like it. because of that dog, i didn’t like other dogs. i used to have a few “friends” who had cats … i didn’t like them. at all. because of those cats, i didn’t like other cats.
but then my best friend saved a dog from the pound. it wasn’t a particularly cute dog by “cute dog standards” but i really love that thing. and now, i love all little mutt dogs like him because they remind me of him … and her.
so y theory? i don’t like cats or dogs when i don’t like their owner. has very little to do with the actual animal itself … much to do with relationship to owner.
the end.

Cats. No walks. No baths. No need for high maintenance. If they had opposable thumbs and could use the can opener, they’d be the ultimate in self-serve pets. The litter box is a bit of downer, though.

But our Son and his wife have 4 cats and they don’t like me…I guess the jumping from upstairs from the bannister freaks me out and when I go over to watch the adorable grandkids I cannot for the life of me figure ut why they jump and the loud thump! Cats are way too temperamental!! They only come to you when THEY want to! Dogs come when you call them, and want nothing more than to be loved. Of the people I know, which doesn’t mean everyone out there, I’ve noticed the dog owners tend to be more outgoing than cat owners.

http://www.twitpic.com/hick
I love the way it randomly chose “hick” as the id for the picture…. it looks that way - but the cats are happy :)
I live on the second floor - but my door is on the ground floor - Kaz would stay on the steps just high enough to see out, and if I dropped something and bent over at the bottom of the steps to pick it up - he’d jump on my back to see outside. So…. I used over-the-door hangars and did this….
Much to my surprise - Callie has found it and will sun there, too.
