urgent prayer request
November 12th, 2008 @ 11:45 pm

from my friends at the international justice mission:

“Please pray for our team in South Asia as they execute an operation on a large brothel today. Pray for continued good cooperation with the police and safety for our staff as they enter an especially dangerous situation. Pray that the girls would be rescued quickly as they are currently suffering very violent treatment.”

Brothel in Asia

read more. think twice today.

sponsor a child
donate some shoes

and pray.

today, the world has been heavy on my heart. as i pick up my soon-to-be spoiled bananas, throw away my grocery receipts, hang up my dry cleaning, and get ready to eat overpriced airport food…i am constantly reminded the world is broken, yet in its disparity, has potential for so much hope…

great piece in ESA’s PRISM magazine this month on answering the question, “What can I do besides pray?” the author attacks the assumption that prayer isn’t “doing something.” thanks for doing something.

Thanks for the reminder. I spent alot of time yesterday pondering the connection between our worship and our concern for the world. This post hits home in a fresh way. Be blessed as you travel. May God go with you and in your travels may you encounter Him in fresh ways and unexpected places. I am praying.

Thanks for bringing this to the eyes of us who would rather ignore this or WISH it would go away.

Anne - thank you SO much for posting this and to all who’ve commented, THANK YOU for praying. Please continue to pray as there is major roadblock that only the Lord can move right now…

And to Jan Owen - have you read Mark Labberton’s book on justice and worship? Called “The Dangerous Act of Worship.” Totally phenomenal.

And to Jeff - thank you so much for resonating with that article and for praying (I wrote that and so hope people are moved to more truly pray, even as they also daily act in tangible ways…)

My cousin worked with/for IJM for quite some time - what an incredible organization. The stories he told of the rescue missions and conditions are hard to fathom.

umm…I think IJM does not want the prayer requests to be public, until they have successfully been acted upon. You know, so there is no chance of the wrong persons getting a heads-up.

Hey Melinda, no worries. IJM posted this on their website and Bethany (comment 7) works for IJM. Thanks for the concern though.

I was just in Cambodia this past July for this very issue with World Hope International. Although the realities of this crime are horrendous, I was encouraged by the collaborative effort put forth by the NGO’s, many faith-based, to eradicate this injustice at every level. I was impressed with the heart and mission of IJM in Cambodia.

I pray on a regular basis for rescued girls. Only Jesus can restore and heal!

Anne, thanks for turning us on about these things. One of my favorite things about your blog is that it informs me of things that really matter, things no one else is bothering to talk about. I decided to do a research paper on human trafficking so I can know more about it and how we can take action.

    Please, fervently pray:

That TODAY OR TOMORROW NEBOJSA makes new steps toward me (call, approach, apologize) and that WE COMPLETE RECONCILE

That God keep us in His care and help us to work out all problems

For God’s protection of our love and future

That God keep evil influences and envy and jealous opinions and people away from our relationship, that all negative TEMPTATIONS, STUBBORNESS, UNFORGIVENNES AND BITTERNESS be lifted away

    Thank you very much.

I’M PRAYING FOR YOU AND PEOPLE AROUND ME!

MAY YOU SEE THE ANSWERS TO MANY OF YOUR PRAYERS

    GOD BLESS YOU!
