an autographed tribes & mad church giveaway
11.18.2008 | Blogging, Leadership, Mad Church Disease
i went and visited zondervan last week…i may or may not have gotten a few extra advance copies of mad church disease.

this contest is easy to win. it goes to the highest bidder.
(welp, ego…it was nice knowing you!) :-)
whoever donates the most pairs of shoes to the 50000shoes.com website between 6 am CST tuesday and 6 am CST wednesday wins. and i’ll even autograph it with your favorite bible verse, sprinkle holy water on it, engrave your name in gold, give you a bronze dove plaque, and throw in some snacks from my desk.

click here to read more stories of where your shoes are going!
oh, and here’s the icing on the cake. more truthfully, it’s probably the actual cake. be the highest bidder and not only will you get a hyper-anointed copy of MCD, you’ll also get an autographed copy of seth godin’s newest book, tribes. i know that’s nothing like snacks from my desk, but thought it might sweeten the deal. who knows? maybe he’ll throw in some snacks from his desk.
comment below (and yep, i’ll need proof if you are the highest donor if you do win!)
ready…go! how many shoes did you donate today?

OK, this might sound petty, but do we have to actually donate first?
I came into work today with the intention of buying your book on Amazon as a gift for someone, but I’d much rather go this route. However I can’t afford to donate high AND buy the gift.
Sooooooooooo… assuming we can make good on our offer after we win, I’m bidding $25.
:)

You’ve convinced me. Regardless of the outcome, I’ll be donating toward this cause.
BTW, you got out of Michigan in the nick of time. It’s frickin freezing here right now. Snow and ice everywhere. At least the sun is out though…

So, I won’t win the highest bidder award, but you’ve gotta love this. I told my son I wanted to share something with him and give him an opportunity to help other children with money from his piggy bank. I showed him Rafael’s story and asked him if he would like to help children like him and give $5 for two pairs of shoes for Rafael. My son, who is five, said, “But can I give $10 so that his brothers and sisters get shoes too?”
It’s very convicting to be outgiven by your five year old.
11.18.2008
Anne, I cannot tell on here…people will outbid me…lol
11.18.2008
We will just say I am the highest bidder on your blog so far
11.18.2008
If it is a requirement for me to tell, I guess I will, just let me know. Sorry, I could have made this all in one comment instead of three.
11.18.2008
You can email me anne@flowerdust.net if you’d like to keep it private. I’ll need the official email from S4S if you do end up winning. :)
11.18.2008
How about an autograph full length poster of you holding the book instead?
11.18.2008
haha….um, no,

Anne, tonight I bought (and our church paid for) 28 more pairs of shoes - one pair in honor of each ministry head, staff member and management team couple. We’ll be letting them know that in Dec.
I had already bought 8 pairs!
I will buy more next pay day - in honor of my kids.

Anne,
Thanks for promoting this and offering a prize to entice others to join in. I’ve been putting it up on my Facebook status and Twitter posts to help spread the word as well. We know we won’t win the prize, but our kids are excited to helping others and that is prize enough. This has been a great teachable moment.
