Finished with Fat Ragamuffin
Written by Anne Jackson on July 16, 2007 – 3:58 pmThis will be my last “Fat Ragamuffin” update (I hope!)
If you are new here, you are probably thinking, “Now, what the heck is a Fat Ragamuffin? Sounds tasty though…” A few months ago, I really wanted to get into shape. So did my friend Los. And a bunch of other people (listled on his blog). We were supposed to post our weight weekly for a certain amount of time.
You can click the “Fat Ragamuffin” category link and see how I progressed but I am proud to report I have consistently (that is the key word!) maintained my goal weight (140ish) for the last two months and plan on keeping it that way. So, Mr. Ragamuffin Soul, I ask that I graduate from your FR class blogroll. Please send me a diploma.
Below is the progress…it takes time!! It takes effort!! And it will continue to do so.

Thank you, and good night.

a few updates
Written by Anne Jackson on May 27, 2007 – 11:24 pmthere are a couple “categories” i haven’t addressed here in a while, and some of you have emailed or myspace-messaged me asking questions, so i thought i’d put it out for all to see….
1) fat ragamuffin. my goal weight was between 140-145 (i’m 5′6″…almost) and i have stayed in that range for the last two months. i’ve been putting on some size 8’s again, which i haven’t done in four years. it feels good. i just need to tone up, and stay away from my mom’s brownies tomorrow.
2) depression. last i wrote, i dropped the wellbutrin which turned me into crazy lady, and was on paxil one single day until i quit. i’m not on any anti-depressants, but i still have some bouts with anxiety which are usually helped by upping my sleeping medicine (it’s really an anti-seizure medicine (20mg), but used in really low doses for insomnia (1mg) and anxiety (4mg)). when i get a little edgier, i just take 1.5mg and it seems to help balance me out. i’ve been feeling pretty good lately.
i don’t plan on being on medicine forever, but until i can heal from some things in my past (which i see a therapist for), it is aiding me in becoming a little more centered. i’ve had a few breakthroughs in my marriage and other areas and that has been INCREDIBLE. exercise (although i haven’t officially worked out in three weeks) has been another big help in this area, i’m sure of it.
so there are some updates on the not so pretty things. it’s easy to write about the good things or the questions, but hey, we’ve all got our warts.

Weigh In Week 6
Written by Anne Jackson on March 7, 2007 – 1:45 pmTo be honest, I was afraid to weigh myself today. Two and a half days eating nothing but big, heavy meals in Austin (plus having a dessert called “Big Chocolate Cake” delivered via room service) and no working out in the last five days is enough to make any girl trying to lose weight fearful of stepping on the scale of truth.
But, I was very, very surprised.
1/1=162
1/8=159
1/15=158
1/22=156
1/31=154
2/6=152
2/13=150
2/27=149
3/7=146
Total Weight Lost in 2007: 16 lbs
Total Weight Lost since Scotland Trip (9/06): 21 lbs
That seems SO unreal! I don’t feel like I look any differently, but I do notice my pants (jeans for you Brits) are fitting a little more loosely.
How in the world did I lose 3 pounds eating cake and greasy nachos and extra cheesy pizza? I would guess that it was all the walking we did around town? That is the only thing that I can imagine. Either way, I am happy, and only one pound away from the high end of my goal weight range (140-145).
Woohoo!
How are you fools? :)

Weigh In…Week 5
Written by Anne Jackson on February 27, 2007 – 10:49 amLast week I didn’t weigh in because it was my birthday week. Yes, I was indulging in cupcakes and cookies and only exercised once. So, that’s my bye-week. The NFL gets them, and I declare I do as well! I did wake up early and hit the fitness center this morning, as well as planned out my meals for the day, so hopefully I’m back on track.
1/1=162
1/8=159
1/15=158
1/22=156
1/31=154
2/6=152
2/13=150
2/27=149
Obviously my lack of exercise and undisciplined eating habits have proven themselves in the fact I’ve only lost one pound in the last two weeks, but at least we’re now in the final 10-pound stretch. Just 9 pounds to go! I have had to purchase some new pants, and am proud to say I am now consistently a size 10 in Gap, Old Navy and New York & Co.
How’s it going with you?

Weigh In, Week 3
Written by Anne Jackson on February 13, 2007 – 12:01 pmOk…I am wondering if Los was eating too much at re:Create or what, but we haven’t had an official Fat Ragamuffin weigh in for a while. Anyway, here is the latest from Texas…
1/1=162
1/8=159
1/15=158
1/22=156
1/31=154
2/6=152
2/13=150
Still pretty steady. Surprising considered my Friday night binge on Pei Wei and The Nestle Cookie Store. Also, I thought to help hold my lazy butt accountable, I’d post the dates I worked out. Minimum Goal is 3 a week.
Last week:
Tuesday - 35 cardio
Wednesday - 35 cardio
Thursday - 25 cardio, 15 weights
Saturday - 35 cardio
Some of that was actual jogging. As in not walking. And I’m still alive! Woohoo!
The rest of you - speak up! Let the news be heard. How’s it going?
